Neckarhausen hydroelectric power plant

Location Neckarhausen

This plant is situated on the western bank of the River Neckar. It generates approx. 1.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year using a Kaplan turbine built in 1947. The weir needed to operate it is about 70 metres wide and has a fall height of almost 3 metres. Up to 10 m3 of water pass through the turbine every second for conversion into energy. On the right-hand bank of the Neckar is a state-of-the-art fish ladder which is designed to mimic nature.
